Who needs Poken? It’s clichéd but true… “Everyone needs one.”
In 2009, online communication is ubiquitous. Yet still, just as it has been for centuries, the most valuable connections are with people you know or meet in the real world.
Poken bridges the gap, bringing real world connections online.
Here are a couple of examples of ”the norm” vs. Poken….
1) A parent dropping a kid off at school briefly sees another parent and they discuss getting the kids together “soon” to play.
“the norm” – Each parent puts the other’s number into his or her phone. Often, to save time, one just dials the other’s number. Though they have the best intentions, the number gets lost or the brief interaction is simply forgotten.
Poken – Giving a “High-4″ with Poken, each parent has access to the other’s online presence. When one parent plugs in Poken, she see that the other parent just updated Twitter to say that “soccer practice for the kids is canceled today”. Looks like a perfect chance to get the kids together!
2) Two people on an airplane have a great conversation and decide to “stay in touch”.
“the norm” – They exchange business cards, write down email addresses or swap numbers. This soon gets misplaced or forgotten. The memory of the conversation fades and nothing happens.
Poken – They “High-4″ their Pokens. One later sees (through Linked In) that the other used to work with a relative and they have many connections that they would never otherwise know about.
